Nebraska Governor invites C-J Harel as a presenter at his Agri/Eco-Tourism Workshop

January 11, 2008

Nebraska’s Agri/Eco-tourism Conference, “Turn Your Acres into Bigger Money Makers”, will take place February 5-6 in North Platte at the Sandhills Convention Center. The event includes workshops, breakout sessions, networking opportunities and industry exhibitor booths showing products essential to one of Nebraska tourism’s fastest growing niche industries.

Tuesday will kick off with “How to Package and Market Irresistible Agri-Tourism Experiences” showing participants how to offer visitors “time of their lives” experiences during their visits to guest ranches, working farms or related agri-tourism entities. Presenter Claude-Jean Harel of Great Excursions will help owners and operators bridge the gap between what their places offer and what tourists want to buy. The approach is specially designed for attractions in remote areas and for those that want to offer complete, quiet packages and intimate experiences.

Tuesday will also feature a series of breakout sessions, including marketing, funding, creating a natural tourism experience and buying local products. The night will conclude with a “Taste of Nebraska Agri-tourism”, where participants can sample Nebraska wines, beers, and an array of homegrown foods.

Breakout sessions will continue Wednesday morning,
followed by a presentation from professionals in the agri-tourism industry. Wednesday’s luncheon speaker, Nebraska native Dick Turpin, will share tales of Nebraska hunting and fishing.

There is still time for businesses interested in showcasing their food or beverage products during the Tuesday evening event to participate. For information or to register, contact Karen Kollars at 308-249-3220 or karenk@VisitNebraska.org.
