Positive comments following Harel's placemaking workshop in La Ronge
February 25, 2007
About 20 people attended the February 21 "Placemaking: The Art of Building your Community" workshop organized by the Visions North Community Futures Development Corporation in La Ronge.
The event was an opportunity to bring together community stakeholders looking to harness the economic development potential of the area, through tourism, nature and cultural heritage preservation and urban planning.
Here is what some participants had to say following Claude-Jean Harel's presentation:
"Lots of of interesting and exciting ideas for tourism businesses. It hit a chord for a lot of people. Good dialogue that he managed well so as not to take over the presentation."
"I enjoyed your presentation of the experience economy and on experiential tourism. Thank you for your insight and experience stories."
"Claude-Jean, we need to bring you back to consult with our community regarding becoming a real tourism destination town."
"Very responsive to off topic questions"
"I would have loved a longer sessions (not enough time for presentation, questions and discussion)"
"Presentation was excellent. Able to relate other types of projects to what we might engage in here. Broadened my view of realizing opportunities and and how the changing public expectation allows a vast amount of opportunities. Good overview of the changing tourism environment."
"Would be interested in a facilitated session more specific to our opportunitiues and by brainstorming, perhaps create some action."
"Very knowledgeable; dealt extremey well with audience questions and requests for personal help."
The session was made possible with the financial support of the Agriculture Institute of Management in Saskatchewan.
